History
Of Twin Creeks Ranch
| |

The original 126
acres date back to the Republic of Texas.
President Sam Houston granted
Juan Pedro Boden one league of land, in the year of 1842. On Nov.6 1901, Wilson
Green Chamblee purchased 126 and started farming. Great-Grandpa Chamblee raised
sweet potatoes, corn and sugarcane, as well as nine children, on this parcel of
land. Riley Fletcher, the second oldest son of Wilson Green bought the farm
from his father, in 1942.
Riley Fletcher, nicknamed "Dutch" started
baling peanut and pea hay, growing vegetables and raising cattle. Dutch milled
ribbon cane syrup for himself and his neighbors. Gerald D. Chamblee,
Dutchs son, purchased the 126 acres on January 18, 1966. Over time, G.D.
expanded the land holdings, sprigged coastal Bermuda grass and began custom hay
baling. In addition, he started raising purebred Charolais cattle, later
switching to Simmental and then Brangus cows.
Kevin and Donna Wilkerson
bought the ranch on February 25, 1999. We continue to custom bale hay. In
addition to our purebred Santa Gertrudis, we have a commercial herd and are
certified A.I. technicians. The Twin Creeks Ranch is so named because there are
two creeks running through the original 126 acres. |
